Our site lists qualified and experienced independent music teachers in the Armidale NSW Region.
We believe that teaching an instrument is an important part of music education and, like school teaching, we need to have some form of teacher training in order to provide quality music education. A diploma in performance like the A.Mus.A., although a fine achievement, has no teacher training component.
There are many aspects to teaching a musical instrument: technique, healthy playing posture, maths (rhythm), reading (understanding of phrasing etc.), history, cultural and political influences on the style and interpretation according to the period of the music, psychology of teaching, expression (story telling), repertoire, science of acoustics, performance which develops self confidence and teaches public presentation, and much more.
At an independent music studio your child will be treated as an individual with a program developed to suit his or her learning needs, structured to develop talents and to strengthen areas where skills are weaker.

Julee Andrews has been teaching piano in Armidale for fifty years. She has two teaching diplomas and has attended many professional development courses. Piano technique and performance are a priority along with teaching young children the most efficient way for fast recognition of notes on the grand stave.
